Blue Port Hamburg – a art of work
Blue: the colour of the sky and the oceans, of vastness and infinity, of royalty. With Blue Port Hamburg, the harbourfront transforms — becoming a silent artwork that opens the eye to the beauty of an urban yet maritime landscape.

Blue Port Hamburg is a distinctive work of art and a spectacular urban installation at the same time. With the Light-up on 10 September 2025, the harbour area will be bathed in the first blue light of the “Blue Port Event”, and dozens of buildings, bridges, ships and objects along the harbour edge will be successively illuminated. The magical blue will continue to shine as “Blue Port Art” up to and including Sunday, 28 September.
The creator of Blue Port is internationally renowned light artist Michael Batz. His award-winning light installations and concepts have been seen in Salzburg, Florence, São Paulo, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, and Berlin. Batz gained widespread recognition for his citywide light installation “Blue Goals” during the 2006 FIFA World Cup. He first introduced the Blue Port Hamburg concept in 2008 for the inaugural Hamburg Cruise Days. Now, the spectacle returns for the tenth time.
